Absolutely destroyed the final boss on draconian difficulty without taking down the shield!
100% completion, defeated the second superboss in 10 turns on draconian difficulty!
The siblings ranked from least troublesome to most troublesome
I can’t stress the importance of turbo controllers when farming exp in post-game
If you value your sanity, at least
As far as fake final bosses go, Baramos was the only one that was done perfectly right, IMO
By the time you get to Baramos, your team's levels are likely in high-30's/low-40's, you explored pretty much the entire map (or at least the only one you're aware of), pretty much all loose ends have been covered (the only exceptions being the Pit of Gaia and the Sphere of Light in the non-HD-2D versions being unexplored/unused but tbh I don't think a lot of players would bat much of an eye for those), Baramos is difficult enough to pass as the final boss, there was no mention or indication of a greater evil being behind Baramos's machinations (or at least any that I've seen), and a boss theme that you haven't heard before is used for this battle (albeit not the case for the NES version, but at the time this may have flown over most people's heads as the series was early enough in its infancy that unique themes for final bosses may not have been set as a tradition yet). So a lot of people who are playing the game with no spoilers could very easily genuinely believe that Baramos was the final boss, with little to no indications that there was still more to come.
Whereas:
- Murdaw is battled too early in DQ6 as you're only around 10 hours into the game when battling his final form, your team's levels are high-teens at that point, only about a quarter to a third of either maps are explored, and there are still too many loose ends at that point (mainly that the Hero is still amnesiac about his past).
- Similarly, Dhoulmagus is battled too early in DQ8, with only a fraction of the map having been explored.
- I'm not sure if Estark should count as I don't think he was meant to be set up in this way like Baramos, Murdaw and Dhoulmagus were, but if we are counting him: his battle is too easy, and it was pretty clear that Psaro, not Estark, was the main antagonist of DQ4, imo. Albeit this is still somewhat late into the game, and nearly the entire map is explorable at this point, so in this regard, it succeeded.
- Also not sure if Hargon should count since the Malroth battle happens right afterwards (so Hargon seems more akin to a first final boss phase than a false final boss, imo).
I haven't played DQ9, 10 or 11 so I can't speak much there.
After the Jason arc was over, it seemed like Carmen stopped getting into trouble and started doing better in school (well enough to get into a decent college, at least, and thought she had enough of a chance at more elite schools to apply). And yes, I know the IRL reason was because they were phasing out Masiela at around S5. Whereas Max seemed to start getting into trouble when Carmen stopped (in the earlier seasons, the worst he seemed to do was occasionally misbehave in school, whereas in the later seasons he got into delinquency and alcohol-related troubles).
For hunts where you need to run back and forth, doesn’t the transition between day and night mess up the outputs from the turbo inputs since they would cause offsets? Or am I missing something?
Wasn’t being a drunk Benny’s whole shtick?
I’m also only changing vocations at level 99 (since farming exp with KH and LMS in post-game makes level farming trivial) and I want to go through all of them (except mage and priest) for each character to learn all the skills. I don’t like using limited items so I’m not really paying attention to personality.
For HD-2D btw
I have the red and purple orbs, so I think this is the third stage of the merchant town (maybe the second, idk if the brief transition between the actual beginning and now counts). Nose for Treasure is still picking up one item on the town’s outsides, does anyone know where it is? I cannot find it.
So far, I’ve done Warrior to Merchant, Mage to Gadabout to Sage (I didn’t want to use the consumable limited item), and Priest to Thief, which I did as soon as I reached Alltrades Abbey (my guys were levels 20-21 at the time). Currently, my guys are levels 23-25 (my main hero is level 26), and I’m thoroughly getting trounced in the boss fight that happens when collecting the green orb (which is the HD-2D exclusive boss fight). I haven’t done the Orochi and Boss Troll fights yet because a walkthrough I’m using says the green orb boss fight is easier. Idk if I should do the second round of vocation changes at this point (I know that the drawback to changing vocations too quickly is missing out on some spells and abilities).
Oh, and I’ve been doing the normal difficulty mode
