Realizing Sales Isn’t for Me — Should I Leave Now or Stick It Out?
Hey everyone, I’m a newer Change of Service rep currently still in Academy, and I could really use some honest advice from people who’ve been in this role or something similar.
I’ve realized pretty quickly that the sales aspect of this job just isn’t for me. I don’t mind helping customers or solving problems, but having to push sales on basically every call is something I’m struggling with and don’t see myself getting comfortable with long-term.
Right now I’m trying to figure out what makes the most sense:
- Should I go ahead and put in my 2 weeks while I’m still in Academy?
- Or is it worth pushing through to hit a full year and hope my metrics are good enough to change roles?
I’d also really like to stay with the company if possible, just in a role that’s less sales-focused. So if anyone knows:
- If you leave during Academy, are you still eligible for rehire?
- How long you typically have to wait before reapplying?
- Whether it’s easier to transfer internally vs leaving and coming back
Any advice or personal experiences would be really appreciated. I just don’t want to make a short-term decision that messes up better opportunities later. If you have personally or know someone who has left on good terms and came back please share .
Thanks in advance.
