What do people my age do in Korea during summer?

Hello, I’m m/15. I’m half Korean and grew up in Korea until I was 10. I then had to move to Kosovo with my dad after my parents divorced and since then I’ve been coming back to Korea every summer break (they’re 3 months long over there) to visit my mom, younger brother, and the rest of my family.

The problem is, my mom really doesn’t care about me and my younger brother isn’t much better. He doesn't really want to interact or hang out with me. Over the years I always gave my best to keep in touch with my friends from school but after I moved away thing seem to fade out. They started treating me more like an outsider and eventually most of them ghosted me.

So, every summer I kind of just live here without really having anyone. The only one I have is my grandparents who live in Jeollanam-do. I usually just stay with them and help them out but that gets super repetetive and boring, my grandpa also told me during my last visit that I should do things people my age do instead of staying with them the whole time.

I’ve been thinking maybe I should try to actually meet new people my age or find something else to do. I'm active on Korean sns, so I should techinically know what people my age are into but I still seem to hit a wall.

Do you have any suggestions on how to meet people my age in Korea (specifically in Seoul) , or just things I could do so I’m not doing the exact same thing this year again?

🔥 Hot ▲ 58 r/aromanticasexual

I hate that romance is the default in our society.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice that some folks out there can feel romantic love, have crushes, go through the sorrows of love but why does every (amost every) story have to include a romantic plot (or subplot)?

I know that there are aromantic/asexuals out there who can consume romantic media but I can't because whenever I see it it just makes me super annoyed and I can't stand watching it. It's especially bad when I find a show where I think "Wow I hit the jackpot!" but then they have to introduce a romantic subplot which then causes me to skip 60% of the show because it's all just romance crap.

Why are people incapable to write or come up with stories htat don't involve romance? I only have a handfull of shows I love becasue they don't include it and I am continously forced to rewatch them because there's nothing else out there.

Is there a 'sterotype' about people in your homecountry that isn't really true in your opinion but people still claim it to be true?

For me (I am half german, grew up in germany and still living here) it's the typical sterotype of 'Germans are honest and blunt' while I do agree that maybe in comparison to other cultures such as America or maybe some East Asian countries, Germans might seem a little 'mean or blunt' it's by far not what alot of germans and other people online love to portray.

(I already know I will get canceled for this by other germans but idc)

I think this sterotype is very very misleading, especially to foreigners who move here. Truth is, germans aren't all that straightforward, honest and blunt. I would like to argue that it's actually the opposite. It's needless to say that you can never generalize everyone. There will always be good and bad people everywhere. Some of the worst two faced people I have met were germans. Talking behind someone else's back is so awfully normalized in germany. It's super common (and I have witnessed this myself) that for example your coworker talks to someone, witha big smile, complimenting them etc. and the second said person leaves the room, the smile drops and the shit talking/rumor spreading begins. It actually took me a while to not be surprised anymore whenever I witness this.

If germans were really all that honest, straightforward etc. there wouldn't be such a big 'neidkultur' 'jealousy culture' (jealousy culture in germany is really really bad) over here. I also think that germans aren't all that confrontational, which is why they engage in so much gossiping etc.

It just really annoys me whenever I see fellow germans spreading this idea when it's pretty obvious (if you lived here for your entire life) that it's simply not true. Or maybe every other german lives in a different dimension of germany and I am the only person witnessing this bullshittery.
