Help me choose: BIT Mesra (ECE/EEE) vs. DTU/NIT-B (Civil) vs. IIITs (CSE/ECE)

Hey everyone, I’m currently stuck in a major dilemma regarding my college counseling and could really use some perspective from seniors or folks familiar with the current placement trends.

My Options:

  • BIT Mesra: ECE or EEE
  • DTU / NIT Bhopal: Civil Engineering
  • IIIT Bhubaneswar: CSE
  • IIIT Pune / IIIT Nagpur: ECE

My Priorities:

  1. Placements: I’m leaning towards tech/coding roles eventually, but I’m okay with core ECE if the packages are solid.
  2. College Life/Brand: I know DTU and BIT Mesra have massive legacies, but does that outweigh the branch disadvantage?
  3. Location/Peer Group: IIITs usually have a focused coding culture, but Nagpur/Pune are still "Tier 2" and relatively new.

My Doubts:

  • Is BIT Mesra ECE still considered "Tier 1" in terms of opportunities compared to the newer IIITs?
  • Is it worth taking Civil at DTU just for the Delhi/DTU tag if I ultimately want to end up in software? (I've heard the curriculum is chill, but will I be eligible for most tech companies?)
  • How does the IIIT Bhubaneswar CSE curriculum compare to BIT Mesra ECE in terms of workload?

I’m currently confused if I should pick a "better" branch at a mid-tier IIIT or a "better" college like BIT Mesra or DTU. Any insights on the campus culture, recent placement stats (2024-25), or the "ROI" of these choices would be greatly appreciated!
