So I came across this girl on one of those college graduating class of “ accounts that people post on to meet like their future peers or make friends before going to college for their first years. And after reading her post on there and just checking her profile i saw we had alot of similar interests and things in common. And she was going to my college and doing the same major and everything. I also thought she was really pretty so in the end i decided to just maybe see whats up and follow her and dm her. I have never done something like that before so it was a little nerve wracking for me. It wasn’t like a flirty dm or anything but just acknowledging i saw her post and some interests she had that we had in common. But she ends up following me back and texting me. Mind you im currently a first year in that college while right now she is senior in highschool. We’ve talked and its mostly just about the college. And just giving her like some insight on the program like professors and classes. She had alot of questions and she told me she is kind of scared to start college and i told her that like not to worry to much and that she seemed cool, she’d fit in. Then to end that convo she tells me like thanks for telling her all this especially without me knowing her and that she hopes to see me there. I tell her the same back. Its just that after those texts im feeling a bit weird, almost like a mentor of hers. And that makes me feel like the power dynamic is so off. She just turned 17 this year and im almost turning 19 this year. Should i even be talking to this girl? And also how do i turn the convo away from it feeling like a mentorship. I do think i like this girl but also i don’t know her too well yet.
