I was managed out of my long-time job in December 2024. I managed to land this role—and actually had two offers—but I chose this one for the work-life balance. However, there’s a lack of productivity within the team. My manager and their direct reports don't seem to understand the technology or the value I’m delivering.
For example, the lead handling our migration went on vacation for several weeks right when the team needed him most. I spent five straight days fixing production issues that weren't even my responsibility. To make matters worse, my suggestions for process improvements are ignored, while the same ideas are implemented immediately if they come from someone else.
Any advice on what to do? The job market is so cold not getting any calls...
