I dont know a lot about endo because I never thought I had it. However it makes sense I never experienced the symptoms. I'm 25 and I've been on birth control since I was 16 or 17. Before BC I had heavy periods and very mild or no cramping. After BC my periods are heavy for about 1 day and then super light and only lasts 3 or 4 days.
Anyways, I had both of my fallopian tubes removed and apparently they found endometriosis. I dont have a clear picture of what they found and did because the doctor was in another surgery when I woke up and the nurses only skimmed the surgery notes. I heard scraping, cauterizing, and cutting but no specific details, I was also pretty out of it. I will be asking a bunch of questions at my 2 week Post Op Follow up. But in the meantime I'm really anxious about it.
What will my future look like? Does endometriosis get worse over time? Does BC actually prevent progression or just suppress symptoms? Would a hysterectomy "cure" it? Would I still have to worry about developing cysts on my ovaries?
I'm a bit disappointed that I'll probably have to stay on birth control to continue managing symptoms (From what I understand anyways). I have concerns that the birth control is decreasing my libido (I'm on multiple mental health meds, so it could be those instead) and also making it hard to lose weight.
Lots of questions. If anybody has a really good source to answer all kinds of questions, please share.
