I have an 8th gen Civic Si sedan. Got around 132k miles on it. When I got my car serviced this past January (I think).

I was told that I have an oil consumption issue and that the next oil change I should go to a higher viscosity. In the photo here, I took an oil reading this evening. I see that my oil level is questionably🤨 low.

Well fast forward to this week and I got a CEL with a dreaded code P0420 - Catalyst Performing below threshold.

Now before I start the throw expensive parts on my car, I want to address the underlying issue. Which I believe is the oil consumption. I think oil is getting past the pistons and getting into the catalytic converter.

So…

How do I fix oil consumption? Or at least help the car consume less oil.

As a side note, I do have a shortie header Comtech Engineering CARB certified header. It just has bigger primary tubes. That’s about it. It was installed years ago, before COVID. So, I don’t think it could be the issue, but maybe it contributed to it?

Let me know your experience or thoughts 💭.

Thank you.
