I'm hoping some of you fine researchers could help me locate a death record that I just can't find.
The person in question is Theophile Dugas, born July 4, 1743 in Montreal, son of Joseph Dugas and Genevieve Catin. Died October 14, 1804(????).
I have found only one source for his death. A page from a tree on Geneanet: https://gw.geneanet.org/paul42?n=dugas&oc=&p=theophile
The user who created this page states:
> Took name of Brother Chrysostome Dugas(t). Served as missionary at St Michel d'Yamaska for many years. Died at St Michel 14 Oct 1804 after an illness of several months. Buried 16 Oct 1804 in the church of St Michel, "au cote de l'Evangeliste". I'm familiar with noting the aisle of St Mary/Blessed Virgin or St Joseph as a place of burial in the floor of a church, but am unfamiliar of where this would be.
Sounds great, but they've offered no source for this information, and I cannot find anything to corroborate this info. I've been digging through the Quebec Drouin records on Ancestry to no avail, but I'm hindered by the fact that I don't know French and I'm relying mainly on Ancestry's poor indexing to search.
So my plea is this: can anyone find anything to verify this user's claims? Preferably, can anyone find the death record for him?
I'd be extremely grateful for any help.
Thanks!
