For reference: my friend knows I participate in community theater every Summer. I have known this person for over a decade. My friend will recieve a wedding present regardless of whether or not I attend the service.

My friend is getting married. Originally, I told them that I wasn't able to attend because I had auditions that, if cast, would conflict with their wedding date. They understood that. However, that didn't pan out so my family and I said we can go!

Now I was cast in a different theater production which might feature a conflict with the time. We might have tech week the same day (later in the evening) as their special occassion in the afternoon. I am worried that cancelling on them (I would let them know long in advance) would be breaking my word and I don't want to be a bad friend. So, if you please, would I be an a**hole if I didn't go to their special occassion?

Note: For clarification purposes. This is community theater, and I am talking about the wedding reception, not the church service itself.
