Edited to add: I believe this is an adhd problem because I am so easily overstimulated and have sensory issues but I see lots of people living among their pet’s fur with no issue so I feel like there’s something wrong with ME and I need help to manage this sensory overload problem.

This is my sweet girl. I love her so much. We are deeply bonded and she is so important to me. She is also very fluffy and sheds SO much. My other cat, her sister, doesn’t have that same fluffy coat and sheds so much less in comparison. I brush my fluffy girl almost every day, I have a cordless Dyson and my house is tiny so I vacuum my entire house almost everyday, change my bedding weekly, make my bed every morning, and wash my curtains and shower curtain monthly.

The problem is her fluffy, weightless fur is still EVERYWHERE. The biggest struggle for me is my bed. She loves to lay in my bed and I don’t want to kick her out because my house is super small and there really aren’t other great spots for her to chill and spread out. Also she lays in my bed so much because she loves me and I do love how she lays against my legs at night, it’s super comforting.

Anyway, I changed my comforter two days ago (I rotate between two of them) and it’s already absolutely covered in her fluff. It flies up in my face, gets in my eyes, nose, and mouth, and is like floating in the air of my house ALL the time. I have tried keeping a separate large blanket on the bed during the day to catch most of her fluff and then just rolling that off at night to sleep but then she sleeps on top of the comforter when I’m in bed and gets it all furry so it kind of defeats the purpose.

The worst part is I can’t even pet her for very long because my hand will be COATED with her fur and then it’s clinging to my sleeves and all in my face. I get so overstimulated and bothered by it and then I veer into OCD territory where I obsess over spreading the fur to all the areas of my house I just cleaned.

Has anyone here struggled with something similar around pet fur sensory overload and figured out a way to deal?
