Why is my matcha always light green:(

So I’m super new to making matcha. I’ve been getting really nice microfoam as I’m making it and it looks like a beautiful dark green color when I pour it into the milk, but as soon as I stir it together it goes super light and I’m not tasting a lot of rich matcha flavor. I don’t have a scale yet so I’ve been using about two teaspoons of matcha powder. Is that not enough? Am I using too much milk? The powder I’m using right now is the YUZUKI first harvest matcha. Also, is a scale super necessary to you guys? I know it can help if you want a perfectly consistent cup, but is that its only purpose? TYIA!
