Hey all, was just curious for you lifting mamas how long it took you to recover enough to start again after giving birth. I'm 37+4 but am considered "high risk" so I have a lot of extra appointments every week - it's built up to 5 (including 2 PT sessions). I'm feeling so burnt out from all the appointments and the thought of making time to keep going to the gym is just an added stressor. There are things I've been wanting to get done at home that I haven't had the time or energy for because of all these appointments. Plus I've just been so tired recently.
Anyway, rant over, I'm just wondering how much it'd put me back to stop lifting now instead of at 39 weeks which is when I froze my gym membership anyway. I have adjustable dumbbells at home although there's only so much I can do with those, I've had to utilize a lot more machines recently due to pelvic girdle pain and just the fact I can't really lie on my back/get back up from lying. So I wouldnt be able to do very much at home.
If I quit lifting now I'd focus on walking more, which I've been meaning to do but again, lack of time and energy. I just dont want to unnecessarily put myself back farther or potentially lose any strength that could help with labor and recovery by the time I have the baby. Im a FTM and planning to wait for spontaneous labor so Im assuming Ill be a bit past my due date. I'm just so tired yall 😭
Edit: I'm planning on a vaginal delivery, assuming no complications arise, mostly looking for advice from those who have gone that route.
