My wife and I just finished Mission 8, and were completely underwhelmed, so I want to make sure we did things correctly.

1. We remembered to sort numbers independently in each of our two trays.
2. We remembered that once the game starts, our 2 trays count as one hand so that we can solo cut between them. Is that right?

We realized in the first 7 missions, that most of our turns were just solo cutting a ton of stuff. So by Mission 8, we developed the habit of after sorting the numbers, we just simultaneously revealed all of our doubles and quadruples. At that point, most of the wires were cut, and then it took just a few turns to finish the rest off. It was really anticlimactic.

Is using this shortcut inherently different than slowly taking turn after turn of solo-cutting. Is there a rule that I'm missing? Do the later missions get more interesting?
