I just picked up a near perfect condition used Orion XT8 with two eyepieces and went out to look at the (Bortle 8) sky. After aligning my finder scope on Arcturus I managed to find and see Jupiter and its moons. Overall it was fun but I failed to find any DSOs. I mostly tried to find M3 by looking at Arcturus and going up and to the left a bit, but to no avail. I'm interested to see what could help here and also what else is fun to observe in the sky. I should note that I have not collocated the scope (it came with a collomator), so that may have something to do with it?

I went to oklahoma state for law and am currently a junior associate for a midsize firm of northern ireland.I am buying a telescope but am not sure if I need a law degree. Should I go back to law school?

Guy is selling his apparently lightly used apertura ad8 for $450, but it has these dents. Is this okay and are they cosmetic or will they actually effect performance? I don't know much about scopes.
