I found this interesting so I thought I'd share this here.

So, turns out that like all the other cars in India, Elevate is also based on the Honda's global Small Car Platform which has been in production since 1999.

The foot rest elevation for the rear passengers is there because the fuel tank is placed there. Which has been the same for Jazz, WRV, almost all Honda Citys - it has never been more than 40 liters.

With space under the rear seat, they were able to make Jazz's Magic seat and carve out space for hybrid equipment under the back seat.

However, there haas been a new PF2 platform under the works which will be starting off with new gen Honda City, set to launch in the few weeks***** Edit - Set to launch in 2028. The current launch is a facelift, based on same platform.

There, they have placed the fuel tank under the rear seats only indicating a possible increase upto 60 liters.

I may get a lot of hate for this so I am setting some context - Recently our family of 5 went to a long-ish road trip including highways, bad roads and 65-75 km of windy hills. During that, I got to sit in the middle and I realised it's actually horrible after 45 minutes. Specially the base.

I came back and got an idea from one of the comments in this Sub where a customer had their rear seat modified by the dealer themselves during the time of purchase. I checked with dealer near me and they said they don't do it. So I went to Karol Bagh instead where they manufacture seat covers.

They took out the seat, undid the leather/fabric and after a few tries, we got to a piece of HD32 foam placed on the hip portions of the base of the seat. Check the photo.

They put the cover back on. There is a slight loose-ness in the middle seat at the back now but it's practically unnoticable unless you look closely.

The comfort is MUCH better now. The seat is flatter, Even on the sides.

The best part? You can barely tell by looking. The bump in the middle is somewhat leveled with the foam so while sitting it's less pronounced. The risen edges on the sides are also more leveled.

And another best part? The foam is not pasted. In a couple of years/months, if this is not useful - this can be removed just as easily.

I do admit that it's not the neatest job because the leather itself was very fitted. But if it fares better in the long run, I think I'll be okay with it.

Let me know your thoughts.

Edit - I paid 1250 rs for this.
