I was under the impression that this platform was supposed to be a supportive community, where we share our experiences and struggles navigating the immigration system. The fact that some people here blame the victim, while being part of a group that is supposed to support victims of DV is crazy. I posted something recently and the comments and messages I have been getting are insane and hurtful. Desperate and lonely people who hate their lives and want to pour hate on others.

I haven’t filed for VAWA yet, and I’m still legally married because I never finalized the divorce after the incident that happened in 2023. Part of the delay has been emotional stress, immigration uncertainty, and financial/legal issues related to my case.

In early 2025, after being separated for a long time, I met someone I genuinely love and care about. Over the past 16 months, our relationship has become serious, and he has expressed interest in marriage.

If I eventually divorce and file through a new marriage instead of VAWA, would USCIS automatically view that as suspicious, even though no VAWA petition was ever submitted?

During these 16 months he has shown interest in marrying me. Is it gonna look suspicious, if i file papers with my new marriage. I havent sent my documents for VAWA yet since my lawyer requires to pay her fully before she submits the docs.
