The original Fishman Island to Whole Cake Island stretch of the anime was really mediocre. The animation quality was poor and it was plagued by horrible pacing. In comparison, the original East Blue saga is dated sure, but has a nostalgic charm that makes it age far better than these more recent arcs.
I totally understand the upcoming remake aims to eventualy get through the entire series. But man, I care way way more about seeing these arcs redone with quality modern animation and attention to detail we've seen since Wano.
