Im a white female (with pin straight hair) dating a mixed man with 4a hair. his hair is longer than mine and he keeps it in box braids majority of the time. when we first started dating, i offered to help him take the braids out for him to get them re-done. he happily agreed and gave me guidance throughout. overall i just want to be a knowledgeable supportive girlfriend when it comes to his hair. he’s been very open with sharing what he knows when i ask, but has been honest that he doesn’t know much about his hair texture or how to care for it. he outsources all his hair care needs through salons. i’m fully supportive of this btw! if that’s what he likes and prefers! i just would like to give him the option to have me learn how to do simple things like unbraiding, washing, detangling the proper way as to not damage his hair should he want that!
