Fry not eating at the surface?
I have about 20 small fry that I recently moved (about 1 week ago) from one tank to the other and since the move very few of them will come eat at the surface when I feed them.
Not all of them would surface for food before, but most of them would eagerly huddle around when I came over. Now they seem disinterested.
This is my second batch of 20+ fry and last time I moved them 2-3 times before going outside permanently and I hadn't noticed a collective charge in feeding behavior like this.
The current tank just underwent a partial rescape so it's not super mature, though I did add several new plants and kept some of the older ones and the hardscape. The tank they were in was at least equally if not more mature than this one. One of the biggest differences is that there are far fewer floaters in the new one. Only new inhabitants are assassin snails, which mostly stay hidden and don't really interact with them.
Nonetheless I'm thinking they are just getting plenty to eat and aren't as focused on powdered foods? Or just getting used to the new space still? They don't seem lethargic or stressed at all. I want them to bulk up so I can get them outside before it gets too hot.
