Getting married soon, how to protect assets from husband
I’m getting married in about a month and a half and am not sure how some things work. My family is very poor while my future husband has a great paying job and a rich family. I just want to ensure after we’re married that the home that’s solely in my name now will go to my brothers? Like in the unlikely case of divorce or my death?
I also have a bit of funds in savings that I would like to give to my parents if anything were to happen to me or do not want them to be taken in a divorce if that were to happen.
Would I just need to make a will to ensure that? I figured it’s too last minute for a prenup.
We plan to keep our funds in our individual accounts and have a joint account eventually that we just use for paying bills and whatnot together. I’m not worried about protecting any future funds or property just what I currently have.
Not sure if in South Carolina any assets and property acquired before marriage is legally considered yours alone.
I love my partner to death I just know he will always be well off and my family will never have money so id like to protect my funds and property so i can take care of them
