Short term rentals? October '26-April '27

Hi everyone!

Sorry, this is my first time posting here. I am a cardiovascular perfusion student from toronto, and I just found out that I will be completing a rotation at the Kingston hospital starting January of next year! It's kind of like a residency that medical students go through whereby we are assigned to a hospital for a few months and we work and help with cases.

Another classmate of mine will be doing their rotation for 2 months starting in late October / early November of this year as well so we are looking together if it helps as we could then ideally do a 6 month rental that we would just sort of take over from each other!

Neither of us are really from these areas and unfortunately it's obviously too far for us to commute to every single day, so we are looking at short-term rentals but we are super unfamiliar with the area.

We don't know anybody in the area either, and from a very brief look into short term rentals seem pretty hard to come by and so I thought I'd reach out to this community to see if people had any suggestions!

We are mature students and are looking (ideally but we can be flexible!) for the following:

-Short term rental from end of October 2026-april 2027 where he can use it for the first 2 months and I would take over after he leaves

-Ideallt a private space (we don't want to rent a bedroom with others if we can avoid it since we have partners who may visit and we are older)

-Trying to keep monthly rent around the $2,000 mark if possible

-MUST come furnished as we can't really move all of our stuff for such a short amount of time

-Ideally we'd also like it to be closer to the hospital so we can walk if at all possible but if it's further out that's ok too. We will be coming in winter so we are just worried about transiting and driving in the snow :(

If anybody knows of places like this or if there are even short-term rentals that are used by medical students for example we are super open to reaching out, we just don't quite know what's out there.

Thank you all in advance for any advice! 😊

Hi all,

I am somewhat new to OSAP. I am in a Masters program and I am in the process of filling out an application for my second year of studies. I learned basically throughout the first year that I had ADHD, but also, that it impacted my ability to study for my classes to a degree in which I am now on medications for it.

This is new to me, and I've honestly never considered it a 'disability' since it's something I'm trying to understand more about myself.

Is this something where I would fill out "yes" to the section asking me "Do you want to self-identify as a student with a disability?"

If I say yes, what does that do to my application? Does it just help open up larger loans/grants? or is it something else entirely? I don't know anyone in this position so the insight and understanding would be appreciated :)

In addition, for three of my placements in my second year, one requires me to drive more than 50km away from my home address, and my third placement will require me to relocate and rent in Kingston for 4 months. This is a HUGE added cost as it's all going to end up being out of pocket, and I was just told there may be some more forms I can give to OSAP to help with calculating my funding. If this is true does anyone have insight into this?

Thank you kindly :)
