I didnt plan on starting a backlog so soon, but I couldnt help it! The sales!

A collectible shop near me takes toys and trading cards for store credit, and they have a huge selection of Gunpla kits. So after trading in some stuff I only paid $40 for the PGU Nu Gundam! Still have two kits in the mail, the Monument EX and Fenrir.

Gonna be on hold for a bit though, as I need to get my spray booth setup before im comfortable doing more clear coats. The Barbatos I cleared turned out okay, but mostly from luck I think, since I just walked outside and sprayed the parts with a fan nearby to disperse the fumes. It was hardish to tell how well I was coating everything since I was using indirect sunlight as well. I dont want any weirdness with these nicer kits, so I will wait for my booth setup and practice some panel lining in the meantime.

Definitely excited to break into these in any case, but still having a hard time deciding which comes first.. 🤔

Finished my first panel lining and clear coat just a bit ago. Turned out not too bad, but definitely learned some things for next time.

No decals yet, planning to order some water slides for this guy though.

Meng Unit 01 completed! Its huge, and a huge pain to pose!

As far as the build goes this was a fairly simple build, but with some annoying seam lines. Didnt love the red teeth also, so I painted em white. Planning to decal and clear coat it soon.

My biggest gripe is that this thing has very limited joint movement. Its ankles block a ton of poses, same with the hips, shoulders and neck. The spine cant really stay upright either, constantly crunching forward if not fully upright or if the arms are posed too far forward. Was considering stiffening some joints, but given all my annoyance with it, im just gonna find a good enough pose and call it a day.

Overall it looks pretty, but the poseability makes this kit fairly meh for me, especially off the heels of two MGSD kits with amazing poseability.

Ready to get back to some Bandai plastic and design work.

PICS/TS/VID

Double Homicide #173 - SV 1700 - First owner, my 7th DH from Jeff. This one has polished black timascus scales. Blade is satin S30V with a polished fuller, around .27" thick. Carried a bit and cut tape a few times. The action is buttery smooth on bearings, one of the smoothest knives ive handled. I wouldnt usually list weight with big bruiser knives, but I feel like I should with this one. It weighs around 19oz. The blade centering leans toward the show scale a bit. A few blemishes in the satin, only visible from certain angles, nothing deep. Comes with an oversized slip and the COA. Sold

Can provide more pics or videos if interested! Thanks for looking.

Third kit so far, definitely having fun and looking forward to my next few kits, trying so hard not to start a backlog so soon, but there are so many kits I want.. The plastic, it calls to me!

These MGSD kits have a ton of parts, and their articulation is pretty wild. The way the shoulders on this build are mounted isnt my favorite, but still a sweet kit overall. Kinda need an action base for it, because the posing would be much cooler.. but im currently not in love with bases..

Gotta knock out my PG Perfect Strike next, then onto some extra spicy stuff, just trying to make sure I can do them justice before I start.

So, I need recommendations for painting. What brands are best, what types of paint do you use, and where do you get them? I have an extensive acrylic set right now since I was painting Warhammer minis, but it seems like most Gunpla painters are using lacquer paints?

I have an airbrush setup, just need to figure out the paint situation so I can start doing these kits justice. Looking to start with clear coating, panel lining, and some light detail work.
