River Tank

I just got this tank cycling! I'm excited for this build, it's a high flow stream type build, I'm planning on adding rainbow shiners, hillstreams, and maybe a panda garra, possibly some bamboo shrimp.😁

I plopped in some frogbit from a different tank, and I'm trying to get some valisneria going, I'm really struggling to figure out what else to include for plants. Thank you!

Power head Recommendations

Hi all,

Just looking for some options for good, cheap ish power heads for my 30 gallon tank I'm setting up, I already have bought a fluval ac 70, which pushes about 300 gph, I'm looking to set up the tank as pretty high flow, and I know 10x turnover may not cut it. I'm planning on stocking rainbow shiners, hillstreams, and maybe a solo panda garra or a group of panda loaches if available. I'm thinking I'll need an extra 100-150 gph of flow but I'm not sure entirely.

Thank you!

Plants in my axolotl tank

Hi all,

I just have a question about plants in my axolotl tank, I've had him for about 5 years now, and I've had problems growing plants in his tank. It's a 38 gallon bowfront I got from my grandma, which I'm aware is not optimal for an axolotl, but he still seems plenty happy and has plenty of floorspace. The tank is about 24 inches tall, I have a nicrew full spectrum planted 16 w light, my parameters are always near perfect, ammonia, nitrates and nitrates are consistently at almost zero. I also have a lot of algae growth on my plants. I introduced frogbit to help starve out the algae, but it doesn't seem to be working.

The tank has valisneria, which has been about 1 inch tall for near 6 months, water wisteria, hornwort, and some java moss that refuses to grow. I'm just at a loss, I don't know what to do to get everything to get some new growth, everything is grown in sand, is there like a fertilizer I could try? I know axolotls can't really coexist with most ferts, I just need to know what to do.

Thank you!

Determining Stocking for a 30 gallon Tank

Hi all, first time posting here, I'm setting up a 30 gallon tank I bought used at my LFS. I'm looking to create a type of high-flow creek/river type environment, I've already bought a Fluval AC70 which I thought would do the job with 10x turnover, I'm just seeing about if my possible stocking list is decent and compatible.

I'm thinking a group of 6 or so rainbow shiners that my LFS has, a group of 2 or 3 hillstreams, and maybe a panda garra, I'm thinking maybe a bamboo shrimp also if I can get my hands on it, I'd like to do a snail of some sort, I'm just not sure what kind. The tank will also be planted pretty low tech, and I'm planning on getting a hygger 24/7 planted light.

Thank you so much!
