My Benno e-bike is starting to hurt my shoulders and I'm looking to go back from e-bikes to analog power. I figure Surly is likely the direction I'd like to go but I'm not sure where to start with frame models. Ideally in the long run I'd be looking at a more upright posture with a chain and internal gearing. Also prefer larger tires that don't need to be inflated every few days.

My use cases:

1. daily cruising along beach bike paths. I don't deal in hills very frequently

2. using my surfboard rack to carry a 9 foot surfboard. I have a 30 inch inseam so ideally a low stepover height to accommodate getting on while the board is there

3. standard grocery getting with pannier bags. I really like THESE removable ones
