Dog Barking
We live in a culdesac in a lovely suburban neighborhood. Our next door retired neighbor got a hound pup around 18 months ago, got an invisible fence and left the dog outside to bark all day. And by bark, I mean howl, scream, bellow. Around the time the got the dog we had our 3rd child. Notable to mention my husband was also diagnosed w a serious heart condition and hospitalized (bad timing, very stressful w new babe) that she knew about as we asked neighbors for any help they can provide in a hard time. After the 3rd time the dog woke up the baby and husband after his hospitalization and surgery, we gently asked her if we can come up with a plan to limit the incessant barking. She was in denial somehow to his barking but said she'd work on it. Got better for a week or two then became a nonstop issue again. We again let her know the dog was waking us up before 7 AM with barking. This time, she and her husband were defensive and aggressive saying that dogs bark that's what they do, it is odd we werent up and at work by 7, etc. Also stating WE'RE the problem and theyve never had issues with neighbors. We aren't petty people and didn't state it, up we've been made aware they previously had a blood hound that was extremely loud disturbing neighbors and (rumored) bit individuals and had to be taken by animal control.
This last argument was around 14 months ago. We now are in a pattern of the dog barking incessantly, our notifying them including calling animal control on occasion, the barking decreasing for a week or two then the pattern repeats itself.
We have also tried handheld ultrasonic devices which haven't been useful.
She maintains that "dogs bark, that's what they do" and that she is trying very hard (despite standing next to the dog on multiple occasions while he barks incessantly without attempting to stop it or bring him inside. We've also let her know we had to totally rearrange our house due to the dog's barking which she stated "great idea!".
I should add the decibel of this bark is outstanding. It echoes through the entire neighborhood. In addition to the frequency and the fact the animal faces the front yard of a culdesac and our bedroom window, it is an absolute problem.
This post is mostly to rant because at this point I'm convinced we have to suffer due to her rudeness and poor consideration of other until we move. They're also proud Christians hosting weekly Bible groups which I find humorous considering they are outwardly torturing their neighbors with small children.
I will also listen to any and all advice.
