Looking to start a sports-focused YouTube channel and would love some advice from people who’ve worked with freelance editors/thumbnail designers before.
I have a pretty repeatable long-form content idea centered around storytelling/commentary on major sports moments and narratives. Think modern, high-retention editing style — informative, but not taking itself too seriously.
I’m planning to handle:
- topic selection
- scripting
- overall creative direction
And ideally work with freelancers for:
- editing
- thumbnails
- motion graphics eventually
Main things I’m trying to learn:
- What should I realistically expect pricing-wise for YouTube editing?
- Best places to find GOOD editors?
- How do people usually structure revisions/workflow?
- What separates a good editor from a bad one for YouTube specifically?
- Any mistakes you made early on that you’d avoid?
Would appreciate any advice from people who’ve gone through this already.
