Just booked a round trip from Mumbai to Mauritius on Air India using Flying Returns points.

I recently booked Air India award flights from Mumbai to Mauritius round trip for 2 people.
Cost: 12,000 points per person, per one-way flight
Total points used: 48,000 points
Taxes/fees paid: ₹28,000 total for 2 people
The points redemption seems decent, but the taxes feel pretty high to me.
Wanted to check with others who’ve booked the same or similar route:
How much did you pay in taxes/fees for Mumbai–Mauritius round trip for 2 people?
Is ₹28,000 normal for Air India award bookings on this route?
Any better way to reduce taxes/fees (different airline program, partner booking, separate legs, etc.)?
