Over it.

I’ve only lost 5 pounds on retatrutide over the last three months. My starting weight was 162, I’m 5’8”, and my current weight is 157. My goal weight is 143. I’ve been eating around 1,500 calories per day and going to the gym 4–5 days a week, mostly strength training with one cardio-focused day at Orange Theory.

At the same time, I’ve experienced significant side effects. My resting heart rate has increased from the low 50s to around 65 bpm, and my overnight heart rate is now around 75 bpm. I’m also sleeping poorly, my blood pressure has dropped to around 90/63 (when it’s normally about 110/70), and I feel exhausted most of the time. And yes I take electrolytes daily.

I’ve been taking 1.65 mg per week, split into two doses, for the past seven weeks. I do not feel comfortable increasing the dose, as my blood pressure cannot go any lower and my heart rate cannot go any higher, especially overnight.

At this point, I don’t think retatrutide is the right fit for me. I seem to be getting the negative cardiovascular and blood pressure effects without meaningful weight loss. I also feel like I can achieve my goal on my own, as I have in the past. I initially hoped this medication would help me get there faster, but it feels like it’s actually doing the opposite, particularly because my body isn’t recovering well at night.

I’m so bummed! I thought this would be the GLP for me but I was wrong.
