I am a parent of a soon to be Kindergartener and we are considering Downtown Montessori Academy (DMA). I am having trouble getting past the glowing reviews of Fernwood (also may be an option) and Maryland Montessori- and want to hear from folks who sent their kids to DMA. We toured Fernwood and DMA and I have to say, we appreciated the smaller class sizes and teacher to student ratios at DMA over Fernwood. It seemed well structured, calm, and supportive. Fernwood seemed great as well, but we did notice multiple behavior episodes and one kid who was just sharpening a pencil for what seemed like 10 minutes because there were just so many kids. So we are leaning toward DMA, but wanted to see if there were any DMA parents (especially for kids who attended through 7th and 8th grades) who could share their experiences. Were your kids well prepared for high school?
