I recently became retail manager at a pharmacy and to be honest it has probably been one of the most toxic places I have worked at.
A few of my colleagues kept complaining to me about one of our other colleagues who constantly belittles you, embarrasses you if you make a mistake, talks over the top of you and so much more.
I got sick of the complaints and nothing being done about it so i decided to write a letter to the person who manages the entire staff as I just manage retail.
To deal with the situation, they came down, pulled the person aside, read the letter to them and called me in to which she was balling her eyes out, going off at me and kept telling me to give examples even though they were already stated but she didn’t want to hear it. I felt so uncomfortable as I did not think this was the appropriate way to deal with it.
I thought the letter was going to be confidential and they would just have a chat to the person about their communication.
I ended up feeling really frustrated and the person involved ended up going home.
Is this usually how staffing issues are handled, I feel like it’s put people off of raising issues.
