Adding a subwoofer to factory
So i have a 2015 jeep renegade latitude with the beats audio 9 speaker system, changing the head unit is out of the question since no aftermarket head unit is compatible, plus the factory head unit has security and features that affect the vehicle 😐... So adding a subwoofer is relatively easy using a line output converter. I had a small 300watt system in prior but removed it because I was going to trade the jeep in but ended up keeping it, so now i decided to go bigger and changed the setup a bit but running into clipping unlike before.
So the line output converter is connected to the factory sub and works but clips even after fiddling with the potentiometers the speaker is wired to 4 ohm (dual 2) and roughly 500-600 watts, it does clip around slightly over half volume (reason i hooked it to the converter to the sub is due to being able to change volume) where if you connect it to the radio it comes out at a specific volume and the amp volume changes when you turn the volume up, its a bit complicated.
I do plan to hoon the converter back to the radio and just adjust sub volume with the base knob but what do you guys think
Also had to blockoff the box port since i messed it up when putting the subwoofer in 🤣🤣
