Back in October 6 2025 i was in the ER for mental health issues in which i was placed on Suicide Watch. On the ER note it states that i have Suicidal Idealization in which it included a plan of “shooting myself” and also “Firearm at home”. However the note also stated that i was calm and showed no sign of distress and was very cooperative.

I was discharged same night from the ER with no Outpatient care or medication needed and neither was i diagnosed with anything. The situation was a situational moment where life went badly downhill and so i had gone to the ER because it got bad to where i didn’t eat or sleep and so when i spoke to the nurse they had asked me if i had suicidal thoughts and possession of firearms so I answered that i don’t have strong thoughts but only intrusive thoughts which i don’t plan to act on but either way it was written on the note as suicidal thoughts with plan including firearm.

I had tried with the US Army in December 2025 which i went through my ASVAB and MEPS exam in which i was approved by MEPS but once i went to the Army liaison they told me i needed a waiver for the incident which was later denied and had a comment stating i must wait 24 months since incident and actively engage in counseling before applying but thing is i cant afford counseling.

Since I’ve had time waiting i was left thinking more about the future in which i decided that i really would wanna join the USMC and im locked on it that thats my path and so i wanna know what can i do to join with this Med issue?

I was told i can apply at the 12 month mark and so i wanna know that if i apply then is there anything i can do to raise my chances of approval.
