Hi,
My husband has gotten his ILR recently - we are now looking to apply for his citizenship.

However we have a query - he came to the UK on a student visa, we got married and he overstayed his visa - we tried to regularise it within the UK to no avail so he voluntarily left the UK and then we reapplied for a fresh spouse visa which was approved etcetc.

Will this past overstay affect his citizenship application?
There’s differing advise online.
