so i've been posting a lot but theres so much to talk about and i like to yap so here it is:

I think a lot of people argue that Dex should be more of a main character since he and Sophie are supposed to be best friends. However, their relationship is more complicated than that. Dex had feelings for Sophie, and their failed kiss definitely affected their friendship. On top of that, Dex put the telepathy restrictor on Sophie. Even though the Council pressured him into it, it was still his decision, and it created tension between them. Because of all this, their friendship isn’t simple, which might explain why it doesn’t always feel as strong or central in the story. I do wish Dex was more involved- but I get why SM did this- people need time to process there emotions, and if it would have happened differently- it would have been a whole other story and people would be saying that Sophie forgave he too easily.

I’ve heard a lot of different opinions about Sophie—some people say she is self-centered or oblivious. However, I think that’s partly the point of her character. She was thrown into a world she didn’t grow up in and wasn’t prepared for. While she doesn’t always treat people the best, it makes sense when you consider her background. Before coming to the Lost Cities, Sophie didn’t really have any friends. Because of that, she had no real experience with friendships or understanding how her actions affect others. I think her selfishness and lack of awareness come from that inexperience, and it’s something she has to grow out of over time.

I feel like people just want to hate on her- personally- I think her character development is amazing and entertaining. Obviously she can't always do the right thing- and makes a ton of mistakes- I would say thats just human but she's an elf but I think y'all get my point.

Also, Sophie is the main character, so OBVIOUSLY its going to be all of her thoughts, the good, the bad, the ugly. Her point of view is also only ONE SIDED. AND of course people are going to want to be Sophie's friend. That's how popularity works. So no, I don't think she stupid, I don't think she's doing anything inheritatly wrong, she's just a girl trying to figure out her life!

I feel like people get way too mad at Keefe sometimes, and honestly… I don’t really get it. Yeah, he makes mistakes, but he also has every reason to be a little messed up considering everything he’s been through. If anything, that just makes him feel more real.

What really stands out to me is his relationship with Sophie—I genuinely think Sokeefe works so well because of how patient he is with her. He never tries to rush her into anything, and he doesn’t pressure her about the match list. That’s a big difference compared to Fitz, who seemed a lot more focused on what everything looked like and what was “right” on paper.

They both trust each other a lot, and I know Sophie and Fitz did too, but it just feels different. With Fitz, it sometimes felt more like this idealized version of what a relationship should be, while with Keefe it feels more real and grounded.

Also, I don’t think people talk enough about how Keefe helps Sophie emotionally. She’s under so much constant stress, and he’s one of the only people who can actually calm her down and make her feel steady. He understands her in a way that feels natural, not forced.

Overall, I just think Sokeefe works better because it’s built on trust, patience, and genuinely understanding each other—not expectations or pressure.

Thoughts?
