Ati Manel Smoked Tuna Pâté

This is my first tin that’s a pâté so I wanted to make sure it was a quality choice.

I can never justify splurging on a tin of tuna but I can on a smoked tuna pâté by Ati Manel that runs for $6.50 on Fish Nook. Worth it.

I enjoyed mine with Simple Mills plain almond flour crackers, whipped cream cheese, and Private Selection Citrus capers. Sometimes I’d replace the capers with a pickle slice.

I recommend giving this tin a try. It has a good smoked flavor and the texture isn’t too puréed where it’s off-putting (it is slightly dry, but it’s tuna.) I did add in the capers/pickles to add an acidic taste as well as a crunchier texture to break up the smoothness. Pickled red onions would also taste really good with this!

This was a great first pâté tin.

Wildfish Cannery Smoked Coho Salmon

I’ve never had a Wildfish Cannery tin before but I’ve always wanted to. I finally just placed an order for a few of their tins and this is the first one I decided to crack open.

I’m not new to smoked coho. My parents live on the Great Lakes and going fishing for King Salmon and Coho is a weekly occurrence. My dad takes great pride in his smoked fish which is one of my favorite snacks when I go home. Included is a photo of the last Coho I caught before moving away.

This tastes very similar to what I’m used to, albeit just a tad bit saltier. I don’t find it to be dry, for the smoked flavor to overtake the salmon, or to have any lackluster flavoring. This is just a good quality smoked salmon from a tin. I enjoyed mine with rice and seaweed.

They go for $11 a tin and honestly that’s a reasonable price for what you get because they crammed the salmon in there. I have to add, if you’re a fan of FishWife’s salmon (which goes for $15 btw) give this a try.

I’m not going to lie to you, I’ve been putting off opening another tin after the last one I had. I gave myself the ick combining mackerel with eggs.. that’s my fault.

But! This one was a bit of a redemption for tinned fish. I didn’t google what garfish was before cracking this one open so it was a bit of a blind unboxing. These guys are about the size of sardines, just slightly smaller. At first I thought there was only 9 crammed in there but there’s a whole other layer beneath that top layer.. there’s 18 total. It’s a lot.

Honestly, I prefer these over all the sardines I’ve had. There’s hardly a fish taste and they almost have a slight smoked taste (despite not being smoked?) Great olive oil in there and you hardly notice the bones because they’re so small. They’re $16 a tin.

I enjoyed these with simple mills crackers (thanks to a kind Redditor for recommending them) with whipped cream cheese and McClure’s pickles.

If you enjoy sardines I’d try these out.

Just thought I’d share. It’s filled with tinned fish information and recipes such as pastas, salads, and sauces. For $10 I’d say it’s definitely worth having on hand.

• Base: Colores de Carol ‘Fortitude’ • Polish: Holo Taco’s ‘Sparkly Sh*t’ • Top Coat: Colores de Carol ‘Speedy Glass’

(In my opinion) Is this one pretty? Yes. Is it jaw dropping? No.

I wouldn’t let the FOMO get to you on this one. It looks stunning in sunlight but in most lighting it looks like picture 2 and 3. Those rainbow holo glitters sure are pretty when the light hits them though!

We need more prugly sparkly sh*t to hit the indie polish market!

Mistakes were made.

First off, what’s pictured is an omelette made with onions, spinach, salt and pepper. I put the SunGold Mack Pack mackerel in olive oil and SunGold cherry tomato sauce on top. I then added pickled red onions on top of that.

I don’t think an omelette and fish pairing was the way to go. I should’ve ate them separately.

The mackerel was more dry and fishy than I was expecting. I had a Jose Gourmet tin of mackerel earlier in the week that was divine and light, this was not close to that. I ended up pushing all the fish off my omelette, eating the omelette, and fighting through finishing the mackerel. I don’t think the cherry tomatoes did any service to the fish.

Anyways, I have one more of this tin that I may mix into a pasta or just gift to a friend. This has been my least favorite tin so far which is so unfortunate because I had high hopes.

I was stunned upon opening my PPU order because holy cow is this a statement cuticle oil bottle. It feels luxurious and the smell is lovely yet subtle.

And this bottle was $13.50 which I feel like is a steal for what it is!

Anyways, just thought they deserved some recognition for this because, wow.
