When my husband exhales it smells very strongly of garlic/metal. It comes from his mouth and nose and can be smelt from a couple feet away.

It’s gotten increasingly worse over the past year or so. It doesn’t matter if he exhales from his mouth or just his nose, it’s a very very strong odor. He has no other symptoms, does not go to the dentist, and typically brushes once per day. Brushing his teeth thoroughly does not resolve it. I don’t think he thinks it’s a problem despite me bringing it up regularly, either that or he’s too embarrassed to do anything about it. He has insurance and we can afford for him to go to the dentist/doctor. What could this be?

Minimal drinker, former off/on smoker, no other known medical issues. 30 y/o
