My friend is getting married later this year and I’m going to be a bridesmaid. I’m not sure what’s expected of me to pay for or when to push back and say I’m not paying for that?
There’s 3 of us as bridesmaids and she wants us to wear the same dress. She’s not decided on the dress yet but has some ideas, and the ones she’s found are £80. She’s asking us to order our dresses but will tell us the one she wants us to get, is this normal that we have to pay for our own specific dress?
She’s also saying she wants us to get our hair and makeup done and said she would pay but someone told her that bridesmaids should pay for it. Originally she said we don’t have to get makeup done if we don’t want to but now she’s saying we should, and she wants us all to have the same hairstyle and is getting a hairstylist in to do it. I’m not sure how much either is going to cost but she’s asking us to pay for them now.
She’s said she’ll pay for our shoes and accessories, but we’re expected to pay for dresses/hair/makeup.
Additionally, we’re going abroad for her hendo for 4 days and the costs are really starting to rack up. We’re obviously paying for ourselves for the hendo, but with dress hair and makeup on top of that the wedding is getting really expensive for me as a bridesmaid. I’m not sure if this is normal and if just have to accept it?
