My setup is I hook my pc up to a 4k TV in a spare room and use my sofa like a console player would but with a mouse and keyboard. I'm probably the target audience for the new steam machine but while I'm not sensitive to lower frame rates I am to poor image quality to lower than native resolutions on a 4k TV.
I'm currently researching a card upgrade and I've got £600 to spend. I had a 6750xt right now but it's died after it's warranty so I might as well get a newer card. I said I'm not that sensitive to frame rates but in general I really want a 4k 60 experience for most games. While I don't care about high frame rates sub 60 just makes so many games that I like (mostly from soft games) unplayable to me and sub 4k resolutions look rubbish.
So what would be the best card I could get for around that price that could do 4k 60? I'm not fussed about Ray tracing or upscailing as Elden Ring and BG3 are the most recent games I play. I don't earn much money and console games are so expensive and I've built my steam library up for 14 years so I don't want a console eventhough based on my post it looks suitable to me. I'm guessing I need 16gb vram and I'm not fussed whether it's nvidia or AMD.
The main reason im asking is because my old 6750xt is considered a 1440p card eventhough i found it fine at 4k, my old 1070 was considered a 1080p card but it handled almost everything at 1440p so I'm looking at cards that should be better than what I had but say they're built for lower resolutions so I'm confused.
I'd go up in price a bit if I have to but for 600 to 700 I want a 4k card for mostly older games released before ai upscaling. Is there a care like that knocking about or should I just buy another 6750xt second hand? Thanks
