I recently came across a tech fest happening in Bangalore in mid-May that combines quite a few things into one event—a 24-hour hackathon, a startup pitch competition with a prize pool, and robotics competitions like Robo Soccer and Robo Race. It also mentions tracks around AI/ML, competitive programming, and cybersecurity, and it’s open to both students and working professionals.

I did try searching to see if similar events had been discussed here before, but I didn’t find much detail, so I thought I’d ask. I’m mainly trying to understand whether events like this are actually useful, or if they tend to feel a bit surface-level since they try to cover so many areas at once.

If you’ve attended something similar, I’d be interested to hear whether you found it worthwhile in terms of learning or networking, and whether there were any real career opportunities that came out of it. I’m also wondering how these compare to more focused events like dedicated hackathons or conferences.

Another thing I’m curious about is the startup pitch competition aspect—are those typically meaningful in these kinds of events, or more of a side activity?

Lastly, if there are any signs that usually indicate whether an event like this is well-organized or not, that would really help before deciding whether to register. Thanks!

From what I can tell, registration is free and they’re claiming some industry sponsors/partners, but I’m not sure how much that actually translates into a good experience.

Also wondering how they compare to more focused events like dedicated hackathons or conferences, and whether startup pitch competitions at these kinds of events are actually meaningful or mostly just for show. Any signs that usually indicate whether an event like this is well-organized vs not would also help.
