Hi, just for some context im 20 and I have a twin brother. I’ve been working since I was 16 years old. I’ve had several jobs throughout the years and have been supporting myself since I graduated, so about two years. I have to pay for my own food, groceries, gas, etc. my brother has never worked a day in his life. He isn’t even in school currently, he just hangs out and does nothing all day. He has always been the favorite with basically every single family member. My parents give him a monthly allowance of $500 plus he has their credit card on hand 24/7. Throughout April he rang up almost $4000 on that credit card and they refused to even have a conversation with him about it. And that was just April alone, he spends thousands on their card every month. Just for some context my father is unemployed and my mother does not get paid well. We CANNOT afford this at all. At this point I’m extremely fed up. I decided that I was going to have a conversation with them about how unfair this is to me. I asked if they could give me some money from his portion of money that a family member gave us when we were little, our parents are the only ones with access to that money. They don’t even want to give me $10k. Not only have I been supporting myself for 2 years but before that they paid for his vacations and concerts, while I did non of that. Honestly the difference in expenses right now is looking upwards of $60,000. I wasn’t even asking for that. I want to ask for $25k, regardless of them being nervous about even doing 10k. I don’t really know what to do. I’ve told them to stop giving him money, they won’t. I’ve asked for money but I never receive it because “I have a savings”, even though it’s only about $20,000 and the only reason I have that money is because I’ve been working for years. To be clear, I’m not asking for the money from them, because they can’t even really afford to pay off the credit card bill atp. I’m asking for money from his account.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can ask for the $25k? Do you think I’m asking for too much? Am I being unreasonable?
