I’ve got a work truck and tools that’s been passed down to me by my pops. I don’t know much but I want to learn how to fix diesel engines and do some auto repair work as well. Now that he is retired and no longer in the states, I am starting to wonder how I can get the experience.

I was thinking about reaching out to local mobile diesel mechanics to bring me on as an apprentice. I could follow them, help them haul parts, work on different jobs, then maybe work on my own under them until I get the experience to work on my own. What are your thoughts on this approach?
