How to get leaner muscle/visible abs? Cut or bulk?

I’m between 5’6 and 5’7. The first photo I’m underweight and about 110 but wasn’t lifting at all at the time. The second photo I’m about 121 having lifted consistently for over a year now. I’ve put on good mass and I feel like I have a decent shape but just not a lot of actual muscle or ab definition. I’ve been doing ab workouts but I feel like nothings really doing much.

Should I cut down to more make the muscles I’ve built pop more? I’m afraid of cutting down too much and just being skinny and small like I was before and not looking lean.

Are body weight ab exersizes a “waste of time?”

I’ve recently incorporated a 10 minute ab circuit into my lifting routine (planks, crunches, etc all unweighted) I do probably 5 times a week. After over a month of doing this I don’t think I’ve seen any difference in ab definition at all. I’m at the point where I’m wondering if it’s even worth continuing to do or if I’m essentially wasting my time. I’m also noticing a lot of my leaner friends who do have more defined abs don’t even train them and just engage their core with their normal lifting routine.

For reference I’m also in a lean cut (Female, 5’6, 121 lbs, probably 20 ish percent BF)

I was driving on a double lane road with a speed limit of 45. There was an old dodge minivan going around 20 in front of me for a good stretch. I usually don’t do this but I assumed something was wrong so I passed him (technically an illegal pass) and this car flashes red and blue lights at me.

There was no siren or anything so I didn’t stop as I assumed it was just some LEDS somebody modded their car with. But now I’m learning there are undercover cars with discrete lights. Nothing happened to me and I just kept driving. Is there a way to know if it’s an undercover cop or just someone with LEDs? I definitely wouldn’t feel safe pulling over for any shady run down minivan with some LEDS in the front

Edit: i’ve only been driving for a few years but no one teaches you that! I had no idea undercover cops existed and never would have thought to pull over for an unmarked vehicle. I wonder why that isn’t taught in driving school or talked about more
