My daughter is asking for an Apple watch for her birthday. I'm hesitant because I don't feel like she needs the extra distraction or to be more connected/available to her friends... but she does have some compelling reasons for why she wants/needs a watch.
So my thoughts:
Keep the watch on an entirely separate phone number and Apple account than her phone. She can only add her family as contacts on the watch, so it's truly only used in case of emergency.
If she shares the number, adds unapproved contacts, the watch gets taken away. If it becomes a distraction in school, it gets taken away.
She will also have to earn the month for the monthly plan ($10/mo).
Thoughts? Has anyone done this?
