My GF lied about her ex’s name and still follows him "out of fear." Overreacting or red flag?
My GF and I have been together for a year, and everything has been great until last night. I found out she is still following her ex on Instagram, but the details are making me uneasy:
The Name: She gave me a fake name for him. When I found his real identity through a background check, she claimed the first name she gave was just his "second name.
The Reason: She claims she stays following him because he will "threaten her" if she unfollows. She says they don’t talk, but she has to keep him there to keep the peace.
The Reaction: When I brought it up, she turned it on me, accusing me of digging into her past.
I haven't talked to her since. She called once today, but I didn't answer. I don't want to doubt her because our year together has been solid, but the lying and the excuses feel like huge red flags.
What should I do? Is the "fear" excuse legitimate, or is she hiding something?
