So I was looking to use this for a flight to Rome in August (yes, priciest time to go, but dates are fixed for other reasons).

If I look to book two business class tix with just points alone, it is 300k points total

If I look to book the exact itinerary with the 100k Global companion fare it is 500k points total (plus the 100k certificate)

Is this a) an typical Alaska IT snafu, b) a way to devalue the certificate, or c) simply a matter of changed "prices" due to certificate use limitations?
