This used to work in Anno 1800 no problem. I reported this as a bug on November 16, 2025.
The rejection comment from Ubisoft was simply stating

I remember posting in their discord led to nothing either.
I don't get how such basic UI functionality even from Anno 1800 isn't in the game. The same hotkey even works for goods/wares, it just doesn't work for items, so it's pretty much unintended at this point and not fixed in 6 months. I have the feeling that Ubi testing and Dev playing their own game is basically nonexsistant
