For my first tattoo, I wanted to do a blackout on my forearm, with Sukuna from JJK in grey/white silhouette. The above are references for you guys to see what sort of look I’m aiming for. I was explaining this idea to a guy in the bar the other night, and he said not to do it. He said the blackout would take multiple sessions to properly saturate, and that I would have to wait until after those were done healing to even start the grey. And that there was still the possibility for the black to bleed into it and muddle it, and that it would need a lot of touch up over time. Is he right? Should I adjust my expectations/design? If so, how should I adjust it?
Please no, “start with something smaller and get this later”
I’m pretty adamant on starting with this, just want to know how best to proceed with it. The artist that I booked with was excited to do it and has done anime tattoos before, but said when I posed this question to her that she hasn’t done blackout nor gone over blackout before. I looked at her portfolio and she does good work, but I also think this would be one of, if not the most complicated tattoo she’s been requested
