Dua Lipa - Service 95 book club
I am constantly amazed and inspired by Dua Lipa's (yes the singer) depth of understanding and immersion into whatever she's engaging in.
Her songs always manage to uplift me or make me think, the visual style is always intriguing.
I've been a long time fan of her and recently I found her book club and regularly see posts from her as she sits with authors whose work the book club has picked up as the read of the month.
Their discussions span a wide array of literary works from around the world and Dua's voice is always pleasing to listen to.
Check out her podcast on Spotify or YouTube.
My purpose with this post is to appreciate her statement at the booker prize awards, more accurately a highlight of an author's words:
"...in the tapestry of the human experience every thread holds the weight of the whole."
When she said this it was the climax of an otherworldly speech for me and I felt so much joy at recognizing a part of myself in her, she explains how she gets into a book and how she lives, loves and dies through the characters.
I get that part so much especially as I push to further understand the characters pov and the authors intent as I argue with the concepts in the book.
I tend to be very animated, going so far as to walk around having full conversations with what is presented to see if there's any wisdom to it or if I disagree.
It makes me so happy to finally get a concept even though the journey tends to be confusing, at times I'll just burst out laughing when I am moving through the day and a concept click.
Another part of life that makes me so happy for my existence and to be graced with the wisdom of so many authors.
This is my appreciation post for books, authors and the characters that so masterfully play their roles that I am ceaselessly enveloped and mesmerized by their wisdom.
