Dont make this mistake

Im 24 and Ive been diagnosed with FAI (CAM and Pincer) and a labral tear for over 10 years, its been well managed with physical therapy, im a distance runner and a few weeks ago I started having pretty bad anterior hip and groin pain on the left, I immediately called my PT, primary care and sports ortho and based on my symptoms and my PT eval we all agreed that it seemed like my FAI and labral tear were causing the pain but because I have osteopenia (from meds for lung disease) I pushed to get an MRI to make sure there was nothing else going on. I get the MRI... 2 hours later they are calling to tell me that I have 2 fractures in my pelvis. Me and my doctors were SHOCKED. I saw my ortho specialist the next day and was put on crutches for a couple of weeks, were letting the fractures heal and then they are going to reevaluate what to do for the FAI and labral tear but man I was NOT expecting this. Im just glad I asked for the MRI even though I really didnt think I had any fractures.

Fracture recovery and aqua jogging

Im a 24F, I was in the midst of training for my 4th marathon, hadnt had any crazy changes in mileage or anything like that but unfortunately I had some sudden onset pain, I immediately called my doctor and PT, got in for an MRI and was diagnosed with 2 fractures in my pelvis, obviously that sucks, I immediately deferred my race registrations and am obviously not doing any running. I had a long appointment with my sports ortho and my PT and apparently based on the locations of my fractures they expect me to heal really well and thankfully I do not have to be non weight bearing (im on crutches for 2-3 weeks then back to walking), however, what I wasnt expecting was that they want me doing a decent amount of cross training, strength training etc. to maintain/improve muscle strength and help with blood flow. The specifically are recommending biking (since I have no pain or issue with it), swimming, and aqua jogging. I have NEVER done any kind of swimming or aqua jogging before and im wondering what other peoples experiences have been? Ive been given instructions on generally how to aqua jog and recommendations for how much to do but Im just looking for general tips on how to get used to it and how to feel less uncoordinated while doing it. Im being VERY cautious and not doing anything that causes pain for the time being. I feel like im just not very buoyant in the pool and I feel like my arms and legs end up kind of flailing around.

Odds of fixing up a 20-30 year road bike into rideable condition?

Im a complete amateur when it comes to biking (im a distance runner but trying to get into biking since my partner loves it) Ive done a decent amount of biking and a little bike packing but all on a hybrid bike that I got when I was 16 (dont get me wrong its a great bike and I will keep riding it). At this point I do not have the money to buy a road bike (im a broke grad student) but my mom is the same height as me and has her old road bike in the basement which she told me I could have. She said she thinks its roughly 20 years old but hasnt been ridden in quite awhile. Is it possible to get it in rideable condition? Im not looking to race or anything I just want to be able to ride with my partner and get a little more speed than I can get on my hybrid. I believe its the Trek SL 1000. Do you think I would end up spending too much fixing it up to be worth it? It doesnt have any obvious visible damage and she never had any crashes or issues with it. Im assuming the tires and brakes would probably be in the worst shape.

Im a 24 year old woman and I was diagnosed with FAI (CAM and Pincer) and a labral tear over 10 years ago, I have done PT and had a steroid injection (probably like 8 years since the injection), I have overall done pretty well and have not had a ton of pain, its been well managed with PT. I did meet with a surgeon back when I was diagnosed but due to me having a bleeding disorder and lung disease surgery was too risky. I am a distance runner, I have run 3 marathons, a couple ultras and a bunch of shorter distance races and have been training for my 4th marathon this winter and spring, things were going really well, I typically run 50+ miles per week with zero pain or issues (and this is not an increase in mileage), I strength train and I cross train, I havent had any injuries. Well, suddenly 3 weeks ago out of nowhere I starting having pretty bad anterior hip and groin pain, to the point where it is significantly impacting my walking and sleeping and I cannot run. My first thought was a stress fracture since I have osteopenia, I went to my doctor, had scans done and it did not show a stress fracture. I went to my PT who felt that based on her evaluation this seemed like FAI, however, we cannot figure out why it went 0 to 100 with seemingly nothing provoking it, I have never had pain like this even when I was first diagnosed. I have an appointment with my sports ortho next week to see what next steps are but im so frustrated and stressed about not being able to train and potentially having to pull out of the races im scheduled for. Any ideas for management in the mean time? The other tricky thing is that I cannot take any NSAIDs due to my bleeding disorder. Ive been using ice and foam rolling but so far nothing is helping. The other complicating factor is that I have an autoimmune disease that causes inflammatory arthritis, it is mainly in my hands and wrists but now my PT is wondering if that is potentially a contributing factor.

I have all 4 of my wisdom teeth currently and all of them need to be removed (they do not have room to fully come in and are causing jaw pain amongst other symptoms). I was supposed to have them taken out 2 years ago but after being hospitalized because of my lung disease it had to be delayed and then I needed a couple of abdominal surgeries so it was put on the back burner. Well, they are now causing pain and other issues and really need to come out, however, I have a bleeding disorder, its a rare form of platelet dysfunction that has caused major, life-threatening bleeding in the past even while on medication for it. Ive obviously talked to my hematologist extensively and they are putting plans in place to try to prevent major bleeding, I will be having the surgery done at a major hospital under general anesthesia and will be admitted to the hematology floor after, I will be given TXA, and potentially DDAVP and/or Novoseven to prevent bleeding and will be given platelet transfusions if needed. Im just wondering if there are other folks who have had their wisdom teeth removed with a bleeding disorder and how that went for you. I also tend to heal slowly due to my bleeding disorder so im definitely nervous about that.
